Amway Hero Awards – Amanda Ready – Generosity | Amway HD

After a 2 month volunteering trip to poverty stricken San Ramon, Costa Rica, Amanda discovered that the women in the city had no education or health support. Her generosity began immediately when she helped these women find dental and medical care. Amanda further showed her generosity by helping women in San Ramon get materials to solidify their houses to avoid having them bulldozed down due to not meeting certain standards, allowing them to keep their homes. Eventually, Amanda founded Ready to Empower, a non-profit focused on women. Through Ready to Power’s Work for Service program, women in San Ramon are rewarded for completing tasks and getting an education. The goal of the organization is to empower women by helping them help themselves. This includes helping them get internships in the community in return for goods and healthcare. Furthermore, Amanda uses her experience as a mental health counselor to provide services to women who have been abused but never given the opportunity to talk about what they have been to.
