Job Interviews (Part 2): How to bounce back after not getting the job HD
In this week’s video, we’re going to go over how to deal with job rejection. That’s coming up. Hi guys, I’m Kim with Snagajob, your number one source for hourly jobs and welcome to our weekly advice show. It happens to the best of us. You go in for the interview and never hear back. Or you call to follow up and they said they’ve already filled the position. Perhaps, they even said you were overqualified. Dealing with job rejection can be tough, but it’s important to keep your head up. Here are a few tips to help you bounce back. Keep applying. This may seem obvious, but it’s so important that you don’t harp on the disappointment of not getting the job or wait around to hear back from job applications. Just like employers have other candidates to choose from, you should have other options for positions you’re interested in. Address the issues. We know the last thing you want to do is constantly replay what happened and we don’t recommend that. However, run through everything once to make sure you didn’t miss anything. Review your resume and application to make sure you didn’t have a typo or spelling error since those are the most common mistakes among job seekers. Also, if you got an interview but not the job, think back. Were you wearing a professional interview outfit? Did you practice beforehand? Did you research the company? In such a competitive job market, you have to do everything you can in order to stand out. Never take it personally. Don’t get too stressed when you don’t get the job. Everyone has gone through it, probably even the employer! The job that is right for you is still out there so don’t give up. Keep a positive attitude and remain optimistic. Make an action plan. Instead of focusing on the negative, use this opportunity as motivation to better prepare for the next time around. For example, make sure your resume is spot on or perhaps try a new approach like following up after your interviews. Use this as an opportunity to polish your skills and land that next job.
