=== Joe let go of Cody’s hand once he’d lifted him out of the car, chuckling as he saw the little boy race towards Demi as she stood with Denise, Paul and Mackenzie. She yelped when she felt arms lock around her legs, holding onto her so tightly and suddenly that it made her stumble but she grinned at the sight of her son. “Mommy!” Cody exclaimed, only letting go of Demi as she lifted him up and held him against her hip. “Look at you! You managed to last the entire ceremony without staining your new tux!” Demi cooed teasingly and even though Cody didn’t understand, he giggled and wrapped his arms around Demi, sighing contently as she kissed his cheek. He’d grown out of his tuxedo’s so quickly that they had to get one at the last minute just to ensure that it would still fit him in time for Emilia and Kristen’s wedding. They were officially married, the party in full-swing. Cody had just turned three and despite him being small for his age, he was showing remarkable progress. He was a little behind in terms of his milestones, but he was so loved and supported. Nick had met Cody twice in his entire life, when he came back to see his family for Christmas but he didn’t spend any true time with the boy he knew deep down was his biological son. Nick got Demi a card for the first Christmas, all that was inside it was banking information- an account Nick had made in Cody’s name, where he paid money into every month for him. Demi didn’t bother to thank him, she didn’t think she should have to thank him for doing the right thing by Cody, especially when Nick had never apologized for demanding a second DNA test on the day he was born. Joe had always been by their side, keeping to his word and their first date being a picnic in the backyard with Cody- it didn’t take long for him to move in after that and they’d been a united family ever since. Joe was there when Cody finally walked, when he said his first word. His voice was slurred, something they were investigating in terms of him perhaps having a hearing problem, but even if it was simply a mental issue then they were more than happy still. Nothing could ever make Cody’s family love him any less, physical or mental disability or not. “We would have been here sooner, but someone remembered halfway here that we left Ted at the beach.” Joe said, pecking Demi’s cheek and she gasped dramatically at Cody. “You left poor Ted at the beach?!” She exclaimed dramatically, Cody nodding his head. “It was an accident, Mommy!” He slurred, pouting. “It’s okay, baby! I know! You have him now, right?” “I left him in the car- Cody can have him later when he gets tired.” Joe said softly into her ear and Demi nodded in agreement. The last thing they needed was for Cody to lose his favorite bear, the one toy he couldn’t sleep without. “Why don’t you come with me, Cody? We can try and find Auntie Em and Auntie Kris!” Paul suggested and Cody nodded quickly and excitedly, reaching for Paul who happily took his grandson. “Momm
