Uncovering the ingredients of FUN | Marguerite Dibble | TEDxBattenkill HD

13.10.2014
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Marguerite Dibble, founder and CEO of gametheory, breaks down the ten elements that make games what they are and why they make us want to play. Dibble suggests these gaming elements are far more useful than one might think. Our brains our built for games. Games hit key spots in our psychology unlike anything else, and understanding what makes them so successful, so thrilling, addictive, and indispensable. Game theory allows us to take those psychologically-driven design ingredients and weave them into recipes for products, organizational growth, and experiential strategy. Marguerite Dibble is the founder and CEO of gametheory, a company that produces games, “evolved” apps, and advises others through consulting on how to make fun work for them. She looks for new ways to understand and evaluate what makes games such a unique psychological experience and how that can be broken down, reconstructed, and applied to move the world forward. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
