Brexit - so the Germans do want a trade deal then! HD
While the majority of the Remain led press bemoans a lack of progress in the Brexit talks, it seems that Germany may be quietly working on a deal in the background. LIKE THIS? Bloomberg also reports that the German Foreign Office paper states: “We share the U.K.’s desire to secure a close partnership with the Union after its exit that covers economic and trade relations.” -------------------------------- How to *SUPERCHARGE* your YouTube videos - start for FREE: http://bit.ly/2vbl9z2 -------------------------------- The document has been circulated internally but not yet approved. Germany of course has a huge trade surplus with the UK. In 2015 for example, the EU sold us £310 billion of goods and services while we sold them £240 billion worth, that a £70 billion trade deficit for the UK and over £25 billion of that was from Germany alone. -------------------------------- ‘Can the Euro be Saved’ by Malcolm Sawyer, Emeritus Professor of Economics at Leeds University Business School - http://amzn.to/2hcmX1C -------------------------------- I chose the year 2015 not because the figures for 2016 show much different, they don’t, but because it comes from the ONS Pink Book for 2016 and the 2017 update isn’t out yet. Anyway, the next country down the list after Germany was Spain, selling us £10 billion worth or so more than we sold them. Germany, therefore, has a huge vested interest in making sure our market for their goods and services is strong and stable, (now where have I heard that before?) So it should come as no surprise that papers and plans are being drawn up to ensure the best possible outcome for them, which is also the best possible outcome for the UK. And be in no doubt that similar preparations are happening in other states who enjoy big trade surpluses with the UK, such as the aforementioned Spain, as well as Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Italy, the Czech republic and a large handful of others. In fact the only member state that bought significantly more from us than we sold to them in 2015 was the Republic of Ireland - and that was about £8 billion worth. Please
