Airplane hell: Stuck on tarmac, man opens emergency door after trapped for 6 hours - TomoNews HD

There’s a time and place when emergency doors are to be opened on an airplane. A delayed China Eastern Airlines flight bound for Beijing sat on the tarmac in Shenzhen with all passengers on board for an hour, before an announcement was made that the airline needed to switch planes. So all the passengers were shuffled off the plane and onto another plane to wait some more. This time the airline announced that they had some minor maintenance issues to sort out before the flight could take off. Five hours later the story hadn’t changed. Because the airplane wasn’t flying the air conditioning and ventilation systems were not being operated and passengers began to complain that it was hot and stuffy inside the plane. Flight attendants told passengers to be patient, but one man’s patience finally wore out. The middle age man was seated next to the emergency exit and after a total of 6 hours of waiting on hot and stuffy planes he popped the door open. The man was arrested by police but some of the passengers are hailing him as a hero, saying that if he hadn’t opened the door they would’ve all died of suffocation. They argue that the man shouldn’t be punished for saving their lives. That’s an exaggeration, but what were airline staff thinking? Leaving a few hundred passengers on the tarmac in an unconditioned tin can?
