If you remove the canister that meets California emission standards connected to the vent line, you could end up with a fuel leak. There are several causes: fuel slosh, overfilling the tank and expansion of the cold fuel in warm weather after fueling up. In this solution, a fuel filter is connected to the vent line to allow air into the tank but prevent fuel from leaving the vent line.
