Look @ Calculate Linux 18 LXQt Install & Use - Gentoo Made Easier I take a look at the recently announced addition to the Calculate Linux family - the LXQt edition, announced December 1, 2018. The LXQt desktop has been available on Calculate Linux for quite some time in the nightly builds, but now it has taken its rightful place among the standard desktops that Calculate has provided in the past. I install Calculate Linux 18 LXQt edition in Virtualbox and show how to update and install software, both at the command line with emerge and through Porthole (the gui frontend to Portage). I install nano and hplip with emerge at the command line and I install Kdenlive and SimpleScreenRecorder from within Porthole. I set use flags and enable sudo use for the user by editing the sudoers file. Calculate Linux makes Gentoo easier to manage, but its still a rolling release distribution and requires more attention and maintenance than fixed release model distributions like Debian and Fedora.
