TOEFL Speaking Test #Full Test #New Version[18] HD
[Sample Answer] Q#1 Some people like to work in a group, but doing assignments by myself is to my liking. I remember a time when I did a group project back in college. We had 4 people in my group. But the problem was they were just sitting back and waiting for an A. We decided to split up the research and each of us was supposed to find sources in the library. But when I got back to our table, they were just goofing off and talking. I did almost everything for the project. In other words, they took credit for things they shouldn’t take credit for. Because of freeloaders, I like doing assignments on my own. Q#2 In the reading passage, it says that Dining Services will not serve hot breakfast foods but offer a wide kind of cold foods in the morning. This is because these are healthier and students can save money. However, the woman in the conversation disagrees with it for the following two reasons. First, whether something is hot or cold, that’s not a deal. To be specific, hot food like omelet is definitely better than the cold ones, especially in the cold morning. Second, they can’t save money. To be more specific, if they start cutting back and students can’t get what they want, they probably go off-campus restaurants which are much pricier. Q#3 According to the reading passage, Cognitive dissonance is a mental discomfort when they experience contradictions between their actions and belief. On top of that, in the sociology class, the professor explains it by using an example. When he was in high school, he was addicted to video games and didn’t study hard. So he failed chemistry which is his hardest class. He knew he should study hard to have a good job in the future. But he didn’t give up the game. So he changed his perspective. Because he wanted to be a sociologist, not a chemist, he thought chemistry class didn’t matter. Therefore, he believed he can only do well in the subjects which are directly related to his future career. Q#4 In the psychology class, the professor explains advertising strategies. The first one is repetition. To be specific, people tend to accept repeated messages positively. For example, in a car commercial a guy is driving and keeps stopping to pick up different people and each time a narrator says plenty of blah blah blah and people will believe this car is spacious even though it looks kind of small. The other one is using celebrities. Specifically, they are trustworthy. For instance, in a car commercial, if a famous car racer is shown and says l like my car fast, people will believe the car is fast even if it is an inexpensive vehicle with a low-performance rating.
