[Sample Answer] Q1 Well, I think music education is important in our schools. And yet, it seems these days, it is being offered less and less in many school systems. Unfortunately, many schools have begun to exclude music from their curriculums to make room for other subjects. Back in high school, I was under a lot of stress from academics. There was nothing I could do to relieve stress back then. But one of my friends recommended playing the piano. So, I started taking a piano class. That was my first time learning it but you know, it was incredible. Whenever I played it and listened to the sound, it reduced burnout and improved mood states. For me, music education is necessary to do well in school. Q2 In the reading passage, it says the university is considering making major changes to the college radio station to attract more students to apply to its program and to provide the school with an extra source of revenue. On top of that, the woman in the conversation agrees with it for the following two reasons. First, it’ll work. To be specific, now the range of the station is limited. If the proposal goes through, they can have more programs and give students more professional experience for their career path. Second, the school will benefit from it. To be more specific, her friend Tony’s university did this five years ago. It was a success. They are making a lot of money out of commercials and the school uses the money on scholarships and to help fund projects for the facilities of other programs. Q3 According to the reading passage, the perception of a stimulus just below the threshold of conscious awareness is called subliminal perception. On top of that, in the psychology class, the professor explains it by using an example. Two groups of people were asked to watch TV. While they were watching TV, a picture flashed on the screen which is barely noticeable. The first group saw a picture of a boy looking angry like throwing the cake on the floor. The other group saw the same boy but he looked happy and smile. After that, everyone was asked to look at a picture of the boy holding a cake with no emotion. The first group described the boy negatively but the other group described him positively. Q4 In the economics class, the professor explains substitute good and complement goods. The first one is the substitute goods. To be specific, they are similar and interchangeable. For example, when the price of butter goes up, people will buy margarine instead. In other words, if the price of butter increases, the demand for margarine increases. This is because they are equally used. The other one is complement goods. Specifically, they can’t be used without each other. For instance, if the price of CDs goes up, demand for both CDs and CD players will go down. That’s because they complement each other.
