Why science is for me | The Royal Society HD
Why is science a core subject? It is easy to see why everyone needs to study maths and English but the same cannot always be said of science. The study of science is not just for those who want a scientific career, but it is relevant to everyone for their future decision making and information processing. This short animation is a tool teachers can use to help demonstrate that science enables students to gain a broad range of transferable skills useful in many careers. Science is a way of thinking, a way of analysing facts and acting upon this analysis; science isn’t about knowing the answers, it’s about knowing what questions to ask. You may also want to view the 2nd animation in this series ‘Why a career in science is for me’[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm2rB29enN4&feature=emb_logo] . Aimed at students in the 11 to 16 age range who do enjoy science but are simply not excited by the prospect of a career in this field, this new animation, from the Royal Society, aims to demonstrate the wealth of scientific subjects that can be accessed beyond school, and the excitement that a career in science can bring. By having a positive impact on the challenges that face our Society a career in science can bring job satisfaction and opportunities for travel and global collaboration.
